29 Apr 08 Make SEO Work For You. “SEO Easy Business Models”

We all respect and use SEO in a modern and trendy web 2.0 ways. Sure there are many experienced searh-engine engineers and technicians, but not all of them do SEO as a job. Some of them make money on SEO. These tactics called SEO business models I want to talk you about.

Profit Share

Some SEOs may be interested in working using a profit share business model.

This type of relationship requires a great amount of trust from both parties.

Usually people who do not know you well will not want to work for a potential

share of future profits.

I cannot even tell you how many people set up a generic, pharmacy-templatedriven,

affiliate website and want me to work for future profits for them. I tell

them “no,” but someone asks me about every month.

Most SEOs are not going to want to work via profit share off the start unless you

have a REAL tangible brand. If you have an original great idea, some may, but

generally it is going to be hard for most webmasters to find a profit share SEO

partner.

Pay-Per-Click

Some marketers specifically sell services for setting up and managing pay-per-click

search engine accounts. Some people charge anywhere from $300 to $10,000 to

set up the campaign, then 10% to 20% of ad spend for management. Some people

charge for account setup and let you run things from there, and some people

charge recurring fees.

Different business models will be better for you depending on how competitive

your market is and how complex your campaign needs to be. If you have an

exceptionally cheap campaign, then it will be hard to get people to do a quality job

for 20% of a few hundred dollars.

Sell All Clicks as Pay-Per-Click

Some SEOs sell both organic traffic and pay-per-click ads on a cost-per-click basis.

This has recurring fees, but also may limit your down payment risk since you are

only paying for traffic you get.

Some networks that do this have you pay to create content where they also place

ads for others, and they may take years to deplete your initial deposit. Make sure

you define how the ads will appear (i.e., I would recommend buying exclusivity),

and get an approximate time range to deliver traffic. Also ask around to ensure

their traffic is legitimate traffic and not automated traffic bots.

Cloaking and Doorway Pages

Some software allows people to automatically generate thousands of keyword-rich

pages a day. Obviously, search engines do not like this technique. Some people

are exceptionally good at cloaking, but you still may get caught if you use it.

If you find yourself paying only a few hundred dollars, you will want to set up

different sites for those types of services and you will not want to connect those

other sites to your main business site in any way. Multiple sites can get penalized

because one of them was doing something shady. The wrath of Google can be an

unpleasant experience.

Create a Content Network for You

Some SEOs create a content network for you and charge you for the traffic. In a

sense, this is leasing traffic in a way similar to using pay-per-click search engines. If

they know what they are doing, they should be able to provide you targeted traffic

cheaper than pay-per-click search engines do, but there are a couple major

downsides to this business model.

  • Some of these networks also sell traffic to your competitors, meaning

that you could be paying to set up networks that drive traffic at

competing websites.

  • Some of these networks may require a down payment that takes many

years to pay itself off. After they already have your money, there is no

guarantee that they will care about you.

  • When your clicks run out, you have to pay again.
  • If you decide not to renew, then, in the end, you paid to create another

competing website that will continue to drive traffic at competing

websites.

If you are interested in this topic I will be happy to provide more techniques and tactics!

27 Apr 08 How-to: Link Building Secrets

The way you build your links can tell ubelievable things about you. Should I mention now that your blog or website now is much more important than your look? I gathered here main useful easy-to-remember tips for you. Stay tuned, stay modern and take care of… your website!

In the area of link building, there are many important factors to remember.

After all, link building is the single most important part of achieving a highranking

website in modern search engines. As such, there are many things that

can significantly impact the growth and spread of links to your site:

• Make sure your site has something that other webmasters in your niche would

be interested in linking to.

• Create content that people will be willing to link to, even if it is not directly

easy to monetize. These linkworthy pages will lift the authority and rankings

of all pages on your site.

• Create something that legitimate webmasters interested in your topic would be

interested in linking to.

• When possible, try to get your keywords in many of the links pointing to your

pages.

• Register with, participate in, or trade links with topical hubs and related sites.

Be in the discussion or at least be near the discussion.

• Look for places from which you can get high-quality free links (like local

libraries or chambers of commerce).

• If you have some good internal content, try to get direct links to your inner

pages.

• Produce articles and get them syndicated to more authoritative sites.

• Start an interesting and unique blog and write about your topics, products,

news, and other sites in your community.

• Comment on other sites with useful relevant and valuable comments.

• Participate in forums to learn about what your potential consumers think is

important. What questions do they frequently have? How do you solve those

problems?

• Issue press releases with links to your site.

• Leave glowing testimonials for people and products you really like.

Oftentimes when the product owner or person posts the testimonials, they will

include a link back to your site.

• Sponsor charities, blogs, or websites related to your site.

• Consider renting links if you are in an extremely competitive industry. Adult,

gaming, credit, and pharmacy categories will likely require link rentals and/or

building topical link networks.

• Mix your link text up. Adding words like buy or store to the keywords in your

some of your link text can make it look like more natural linkage data and help

you rank well for many targeted secondary phrases.

• Survey your vertical and related verticals. What ideas/tools/articles have

become industry standard tools or well-cited information? What ideas are

missing from the current market space that could also fill that niche?

• If you have a large site, make sure you create legitimate reasons for people to

want to reference more than just your home page.

17 Apr 08 Tactics: Off Page SEO

All About Off Page SEO

I’ve talked about on-page SEO tactics, so now it’s time to describe some off page ones. Enjoy and use this for sure!

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is a science of sorts that would enable you to ensure a favorably prominent position for your website in search engine results pages (SERPs).  And since 80% of your traffic would come from the search engines, SEO methods take on a critical importance in the success of your online endeavor.

seo.jpg There are two kinds of SEO, on page and off page.  This article will tackle the latter.

Off page SEO is all about the things you could to get a high page rank (PR) for your website after it has already gone live.  These are the things which you actually execute outside the pages of your website, hence the name of this type of SEO.

What are these steps?  Read lower, my friend!

09 Apr 08 On-Page SEO Rules

Friday’s ebook give away is coming. All subscribers will get it FREE. Get fresh precious ebooks every week! Stay subscribed. And now, some fresh and useful rules for everyone who’s in SEO, keen on SEO or just want to start. Enjoy!

All About On Page SEO

When it comes to doing business online, you will soon discover that it’s all about the traffic.  Traffic, or the number of internet users you’d be able to generate for your website, is and will always be the lifeblood of any online venture.  After all, what good is a website when there’s no one there to see its pages?  How successful will your digital products be if no one would be able to know about them?  Who will avail of your services when no one will get exposed to their existence?

Contrary to what many people believe, generating traffic for your website does not start once you pages are published and have gone live.  Traffic generation strategies start at the very moment you are conceptualizing an idea for the website itself.

This is what on page search engine optimization (SEO) is all about.  It is concerned with techniques that you could implement on your web pages themselves to ensure a good volume of traffic for your website.  80% of your traffic would come from the many search engines in the World Wide Web.  If each and every web page you have is optimized for these search engines, then your website would be in a good position to have a high rank for the results of every relevant query.

05 Feb 08 A Customer’s Life: The Hunt For Help

When someone has a problem, need or desire, their first stop on the internet is usually Google.  For example, if a business owner is looking for a way to process credit cards for payment online (and they have no knowledge of this area), a trip to Google and a search for “credit card processing” will return a link to Authorize.net as the first non-sponsored response.

Why?

There are quite a few reasons, all of which are covered under the umbrella term of SEO, or Search Engine Optimiztion, and SEO is something an online business cannot afford to ignore. SEO basics can be learned relatively easily, but to do it well (and with good results) is something that takes a specialist’s touch. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t take steps to improve your search engine placement.

  • Your keywords should be well chosen…you may not want to compete for search results with the keyword “credit card processing”…try to choose keywords with less competition that are still relevant.
  • Your url and website title should include your keywords.
  • You should use “header” tags on your page (<H1>), making sure your keywords are included in the header.
  • Backlinks, or links to your page on other pages, are also vitally important to your search engine performance.

All of this sounds simple if you understand basic website construction, and it looks like Greek if you don’t. However, even if you use a freelance web developer, there are some things you can do to optimize your SEO.

  • Make sure your keywords are included in your page or post titles.
  • If you’re using a blog, make sure you leave comments on other blogs in your niché, linking back to your website. (In some cases, these will count as backlinks. In all cases, it increases the chance of the blog owner linking to your website…as long as your comments are useful.)
  • Become active in online forums that are relevant to your keywords, making sure your forum signature contains a link to your website.
  • Actively seek out link exchanges with relevant websites.

These are very simple, basic steps anyone can take to improve their search engine results ranking. Are these steps enough? Not in the slightest. But if you’re new to the concept of SEO, they are a start.
